Nepali proverbs with their English Equivalents

अगुल्टाले हानेको कुकुर बिजुली चम्कँदा तर्सन्छ	-A burnt child dreads the fire -A scolded dog fears cold waters -Once bitten twice shy.
अघाएको भन्छ डाँडा पारि खाउँ , भोकाएको भन्छ डाँडावारि खाउँ	-He who is warm thinks all are so.
अचानाको पीर खुकुरीले जान्दैन	-No one knows the weight of another’s burden -He who never felt a wound jests at scars.
अति सर्वत्र वर्जयेत्, अतिदर्पे हता लङ्का । उफ्रने गोरुको सीङ् भाँचिन्छ । उम्ले पोखिन्छ दगुरे लडिन्छ ।	-Too much breaks the bag. -Pride goes before destruction. -Pride has its fall.
अन्धाको देशमा कानो राजा ।	-Figure among cyphers.
अभागीलाई कहिले हुन्थ्यो वैकुण्ठ जान ।	-Butter will not melt in his mouth.
अभागीलाई खाने बेलामा रिस उठ्छ ।	-Once unlucky always unlucky.
आफ्नो आङको भैँसी नदेख्ने अर्काको आङको जुम्रा देख्ने ।	-No one looks at his own fault.
अल्प विद्या भयङ्करी ।	-Little knowledge is dangerous.
मौका आउँछ पर्खदैन बगेको खोला फर्कदैन ।	-Time and tides waits for none.
आकाशको फल आँखा तरी मर ।	-If the sky falls we will catch the larks.
आतुरी परेको मानिसका लागि नियमै छैन ।	-Necessity knows no law.
आपत्ति पर्दा मानिसले जेको पनि आश्रय लिन्छ ।	-A drowning man catches at a straw.
आफू त महादेव कसले देला वर ।	-Himself beggar and a beggar at the door.
आफू भलो त जगत् भलो ।	-Good mind, good find.
आफ्नै भातमा माड काडे मात्रै हुन्छ ।	-Home first, the world afterwards. -Charity begins at home.
आफ्नो रुचि खानु अर्काको रुचि लाउनु ।	-Eat to please thyself but dress to please others.
इतो नष्ट: ततो भ्रष्ट: ।	-Catch the shadow and lose the substance.
इन्द्रका अगाडि स्वर्गको बयान ।	-Carrying coal to new castle.
ईश्वर दाहिनु भए कसको के लाग्छ?	-When God is kind all are favorable.
ईश्वरेच्छा बलीयसी ।	-God’s will be done.
एक दिनको पाहुना मीठो- मीठो खा, दुई दिनको पाहुना जसोतसो खा, धेरै दिनको पाहुना जतासुकै जा ।	-One day a guest, two days a guest, three days a pest.
एक हातले ताली बज्दैन ।	-It takes two to make a quarrel. -One flower makes no garland.
